Long Limbs has some complicated implications because it doesn't work like a reach weapon. Long Limbs gives the Bugbear reach on your turn, which means that you can use it offensively without getting into the complications of using reach defensively. If you use a reach weapon your reach is 15 ft. However, since you lose this reach between turns enemies may be able to freely move away from your without provoking opportunity attacks.
Dexterity might not seem like an obvious benefit for a barbarian, and it's not as good as Constitution, but the AC bonus is still helpful. Reach makes it easy to compete with larger creatures or attack smaller foes at a distance, and Sneaky allows you to be an ambush predator. Use Reckless Attack while attacking surprised foes to ensure that you hit with Surprise Attack.
Bugbears don't have anything which caters well to bards. You could get by as a Swords or Valor bard, but at that point you would do better playing a barbarian or a fighter. Without a Wisdom increase your spellcasting will lag, but if you're built to swing a weapon and consider spellcasting a secondary concern you can make the Bugbear work. Without a Wisdom increase, the Bugbear will be bad at Druid spellcasting, and Wild Shape doesn't care about any of the Bugbear's physical advantages.
With good physical ability scores and built-in reach, you have a lot of great options with the fighter. If you want to use a reach weapon to capitalize on Long Limbs, pick up Polearm Master and Sentinel to keep enemies perpetually outside of their own reach while still able to reach them comfortably with your pointy stick.
Reach is hard for monks to get, but reach and a small Dexterity increase are the only things that the bugbear has to offer that specifically cater to the Monk. Surprise attack is a nice damage boost, especially at low levels, but it's no better for the Monk than for any other class.
Reach is nice, and you get Stealth proficiency for free, making it easier to keep up with other sneaky, skilled classes like the Rogue. Red : Bad, useless options, or options which are extremely situational. Orange : OK options, or useful options that only apply in rare circumstances. Green : Good options. Bugbears are known to be part of the civilized goblinoid societies in Eberronand the Nentir Vale even has an urban-dwelling bugbear tribe that has quite successfully remade itself into a crime syndicate.
This lore has been dropped in subsequent editions. Bugbears worship their own loose pantheon, although details have never been forthcoming. These are the only deities to have been defined for this pantheon since, and even Skiggaret fell under the wayside in 5th edition, though it clarified that the two, like all goblinoid gods, had been pressed into service under Maglubiyet.
They were updated to 2e in the Monstrous Compendium Appendix, which was reprinted in the Monstrous Manual. Like the other goblinoid races, bugbears have been a PC option for a long time. In 3e, bugbears - like orcs and goblinoids - had NPC stats right there in the original Monster Manualalong with some guidelines in the DMG for converting them into a semi-homebrew playable race. Their first writeup as a proper, out-of-the-box playable race was in Forgotten Realms: Races of Faerun.

Goblinoids have the same life expectancy and age categories as half-orcs. Strong, fast, and tough, bugbears seem to be built for combat, but they are crude and coarse. Medium sized: Bugbears have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Bugbear land speed is 30 ft. Darkvision 60 feet. Proficient with all simple weapons and the goblin stick Races of Faerunpp. Proficient with light armor and shields. A bugbear character receives the maximum hit points for his first humanoid Hit Die and rolls his other humanoid Hit Dice normally.
He rolls all Hit Dice from class levels and does not automatically get maximum hit points on his first class-level Hit Die. Bugbears with class levels add their class attack bonus and save bonuses to their racial attack bonuses and saves.
A bugbear does not get the x4 multiplier for skill points acquired from first class level. Humanoid Feats: A typical bugbear's humanoid Hit Dice grant him two feats. A typical bugbear chooses Alertness and Weapon Focus morningstar. A bugbear with class levels gains feats based on his total Hit Dice, as shown on Table 2 in the Introduction Races of Faerunp. Favored Class: Rogue. Due to his racial Hit Dice and physical ability bonuses, a bugbear has an effective character level of 4 plus his class levels.

If they did, they are as brutal and ruthless as full-blooded bugbears, although the trueborn ones will never give a half-breed any sort of real power. If they were raised by humans, they will adopt the personality traits of their human parent or guardian as any child would.
If they were raised among bugbears but left the tribe usually out of disgust or spite they will often seek to do everything a true bugbear wouldn't and have a desire to help people. Half-Bugbears usually stand between 5 and 6 feet tall, taller than a human but shorter than a full bugbear. Their weight also falls between the natural ranges of both races. Their faces resemble human ones more than bugbears', although they have slightly larger ears than humans in the bugbear shape.
Half-Bugbears are always well-built if not outright muscular, which most are due to hard labor. Their eyes can be any color human ones can, but their hair is always black or very dark brown, including their facial hair which half-bugbears, unlike full-blooded ones, can grow.
Half-Bugbears raised willingly in bugbear society share that race's view toward others. Those not willing to live as a bugbear would, however, prefer most if not all other races to bugbears while simultaneously distrusting them and their hatred of half the Half-Bugbear's bloodline. They tend to prefer humans among other trueborn races, for they are the most accepting, but feel most at ease around other shunned half-breeds - Half-Goblins, Half-Hobgoblins, Half-Trolls, Half-Ogres, Demi-Vamps, etc.
Half-Bugbears raised by the tribe share the common bugbear alignment: Chaotic Evil. Those raised by human kin take on their alignments, while outcasts from bugbear society often have a good alignment as they try to overcome the base opinion most people have of bugbears and their kin.
Like both parent races, Half-Bugbears can survive anywhere. There are rumors of a hidden city of Half-Goblinoids, but none have ever seen it Hruggek, the bugbear god, is venerated among tribal Half-Bugbears, while those raised in other circumstances choose for themselves from the multitude of deities in the world.
